COLOUR
Let red anchor the scheme, with beige and black and brown and cream and green and pink and white as supporting colours to pick up in nearby furnishings. A small shared colour can connect the curtains to the rest of the room. WHAT WORKS: Let the pattern act as a focal point, with quieter neighbouring surfaces giving the eye somewhere to rest.
